Project: Refurbishment of Fire Alarm System, Withersdane Site
The Imperial College Wye Campus situated in Wye near Ashford in Kent, contracted Elecro to refurbish the fire alarm systems within the Withersdane site. This comprises of all the Halls of Residences for all students from the Wye Campus.
Garden Hall & Bernard Sunley Hall, Lloyds Bank Hall and Dunstan Skilbeck Hall are all specifically built to house students. Each one of these buildings was fitted with a Morley/Apollo protocol Analogue addressable fire alarm system, which required each bedroom to be fitted with a smoke detector/sounder combined unit.
Withersdane Hall, another larger Halls of Residence had two systems fitted and along with the CEAS Conference Centre which was also fitted out with a new analogue addressable fire alarm system.
These six fire alarm systems were initially all networked together, with one of the two systems in Withersdane Hall serving as a master panel.
Imperial College then specified that the fire alarm network report back to the Wye Campus main security lodge. The lodge is approx. _ of a mile away from the Withersdane site. This was achieved by fitting modems to the network which were then patched into the college information communication network, which in turn sent information to another fully functional fire alarm panel within the security lodge.
This enabled the college security to be immediately informed of any fire or fault condition at the Witherdane site and act accordingly.
Our company also maintains all aspects of the fire alarm network within the campus on a quarterly basis and also provides a 24hr callout service which operates 365 days a year.
